After depositing and playing with Bingocard.com they sent me an email requesting -
1. that I complete a form and return it to then detailing all my personal and bank details.
2. that I photocopy both sides of my bank card and scan or fax it to them!
3. that I photocopy personal ID with a picture and scan or fax it to them!

I am gobsmacked - could anyone be crazy enough to do this? They offered $50bb to play with if I returned all the info within 48 hours. I contacted them via the website to confirm it was indeed from them, which they confirmed. They said this is normal practice - not where I come from!!!!

That is becoming a more common of a process now.

In the states where online bingo is still legal, they require that bingo sites verify the user before making any payments to them. This is so that outbound payments can be traced to the user because gambling type sites are infamously used for money laundering.

I personally agree with you. If they want to confirm my identity - there are less infringing ways and I am not giving out my bank account details willy nilly. Most of the sites that do that wait until you are ready to withdraw. I know that Canadian Dollar Bingo does something similar and I consider them a trustworthy site -- but I definitely do not agree with this policy.

There are still alot of sites that do not do this. [EDIT : Not anymore. Just about all the US facing sites do this now.]

I'm not personally familiar with bingocard.com but the name sounds familiar.

I should mention that Canadian Dollar bingo and Amigo Bingo do something similar but not as extreme.
